As of late 2025, Mecklenburg County continues to face a serious homelessness crisis, with over 2,300 individuals experiencing homelessness despite recent declines. High inflow rates, a severe lack of affordable housing, and rising chronic and unsheltered homelessness continue to strain the system. The crisis is marked by significant racial inequities, with residents disproportionately affected, along with growing numbers of families, youth, seniors, and veterans—highlighting the urgent need for prevention, equity-centered solutions, and affordable housing. The Manifest Transition is helping change these stats by helping woman and children find housing solutions.
